Movement and the Theatrical Space

On this course you will be using the empty space to create theatre. By using the moving body we create spaces with form and energy. Through a range of exercises, use of neutral mask, and mime techniques based on Jacques Le Coq’s and Etienne Decroux’s teachings; we create spaces, and their stories.
TAUGHT BY: Freya Stang
This course is suitable for adults (18+) wishing to explore and work with movement theatre. You do not need any previous experience. All levels are welcome. The course is also suitable for dancers, clowns, actors, as well as for architects, visual and graphic artists.
The pre requisite for this course is that you are in general good health, wish to do this work and that you are able to work physically for extended periods.

The Poetic Body in the space

We express the emotional body through breath and a range of exercises. The path of work continues with the neutral mask, where the individual’s expressive body is intensified. Through improvisation we bring the poetic body to the theatrical space. This work is based on Etienne Decroux’s, Jacques Le Coq’s and Giovanni Fusetti’s teachings.
